Day 56 - Juliana's 1st Communion (digital art)

I am the bread that gives life.... John 6:51
While working on this request from a coworker, I wanted to add color because it was for an 8 year old. My first intention was to add a rose to the picture, but as I brought it into Photoshop, it filled in as the background and it became an unexpected answer to adding color. I love it when the unexpected happens in  just the right way.

Day 55 - Play Dough Fun (muffin dough)

I couldn't resist a little play dough fun before my husband popped these into the over. They were delicious with honey.

I paint and sculpt to get a grip on reality... to protect myself.

Artistically I am still a child with a whole life ahead of me to discover and create. I want something, but I won't know what it is until I succeed in doing it.

Day 54 - Gayle

The Lord himself watches over you! Psalm 121:5
A gift to my best friend Gayle. Happy birthday now-4-years-closer-to-retirement-Gayle ;).

This project has taught me so much, such as how to connect a laptop to a printer wirelessly, convert a Photoshop image to a JPEG file, what the difference between that and a GIF file is and how to use Photoshop a little bit better. So much learn. This actually prints out nicer than it looks on the web as the grays at the bottom of the image blend better than they appear here. The image will be mounted to an 8x10 canvas with a hook/picture stand to the back.

Where did I find my letters:?
"G" - Lake Park's metal rails over a walking bridge.
"A" - The rusty metal post that hold's our street's name sign.
"Y" - Windows outside a UWM building.
"L" - Also from UWM, part of the sundial mounted on that building.
"E" -Forget-me-not flowers from my garden, also used in "LOVE" a few days previous.

It's late, 10:29 pm Sunday night, back to my paying job in the a.m. Good night ;)

Day 53 - Dead Fish Hat: Stage Done!

I was finally able to present John Gillespie with his Fish Hat last Sunday. He loved the hat so much he planned to wear it on his next fishing show. His lovely wife Trish asked if I could make them quick so by next Christmas, I could sell them. Maybe not knitting them, but perhaps by using fleece I could produce a school of fish hats.

Day 51 - Hue new, digital art

I took the flowers from Day 50 and played till I found something new I liked. It's not a matter of what's good or bad, right or wrong, but what just seems to please me. This is why art in any form can be so satisfying.

But who can paint like Nature?
Can imagination boast, amid its gay creation, hues like hers?

Day 50 - Blue Pen Flowers

More pens for the office. Nobody realizes what they are until they ask for your pen and you point them to the flowers. I would like to find some roses for the house pens.

Day 49 - L - ♥ - V - E

♥♥♥ They're married and with this, a gift from the heart ♥♥♥

For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart.
It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.

Day 48 - Cardinal Painty Photo

This little guy was having dinner at our house today. Earlier there  was a naughty squirrel helping himself to the feed. A rap on the window let him know his kind was not allowed at the feeder. What if squirrels had lawyers?

Day 47 - forget m"E" nots

These are Forget-Me-Nots from last summer's garden. They're really a pretty blue. I think they're perfect for the word LOVE. Even more fitting are the interesting legends I've just been reading.

In a German legend, God named all the plants when a tiny unnamed one
cried out,  "Forget-me-not, O Lord!" God replied,
"That shall be your name.

In 15th-century Germany, it was supposed that the wearers of the flower would not be forgotten by their lovers. Legend has it that in medieval times, a knight and his lady were walking along the side of a river. He picked a posy of flowers, but because of the weight of his armour he fell into the river. As he was drowning he threw the posy to his loved one and shouted "Forget-me-not." It was often worn by ladies as a sign of faithfulness and enduring love.

Day 46 - "V" -Day

A black metal park bench handle serves as a V. This may have been captured in Port Washington, WI.  I would have liked this V to be from nature and contemplated using the heart from the day before to serve as a V instead. At least it's outside. I could use an image of a spiderweb I captured in South Carolina as the O, but would that be appropriate for the word LOVE? Mmmaybe, if you're a spider. Tomorrow, my camera will join me at work for a lunch date. UW-Milwaukee has some great old buildings with lots to offer. Perhaps, there's an even better V waiting around the corner.

Day 45 - "O" Heart Rock

This heart-rock was found embedded in the grass at a Lime Kiln Park in Grafton, WI where Patrick and I had our anniversary picnic a couple years ago. Another of my obsessions, looking for heart-shaped objects in nature. It wasn't going to budge, so there it still lies, although it would have looked great in my garden with the others. You think anyone else ever notices? I'm still on the look out for a heart shaped cloud. I must just keep missing them;)

Day - 44 L is for Love

ove.   This is a road in a golf course in Washington County, WI, taken last summer. I was obsessed at looking for letters in nature.  Depending on the combination of photos, this L could also be done in color. Think greens. O-V-E soon to come. When I'm finished, I hope to print out the four letters, purchase a frame to hold them and give it as a unique wedding gift.

Day 43 - Cosmos

Some flowers to brighten up the office serve double duty as pens. I've always wanted to try this. Now another batch for the desk next to me and one for home should do it.

Cosmos grow carefree from seed, these annuals (meaning they grow just one year) fill a flowerbed with color and are great cut flowers. They grow from 1 foot to 3 feet high, depending on the variety and prefer soil that has little nutrients.

Day 42 - Fish Hat, stage 7

Scaling up a bit more with the green.

Day 41 - Frogged - lace knit scarf

Today I was home from work, not feeling so hot. I thought about knitting a scarf that I would want to sell. The pattern looks nice, but much too fussy for this kind of project. I'm frogging it (rip-it, rip-it...) and starting fresh with another pattern that I have in mind. I hope that won't end up at the frog pond ;)

Days 37-40 Fish Hat, stages 3-6

A willing model - it must be true love ;)
The fish hat is coming along nicely. Progress made is documented between the arrows. I worked on it during the super bowl, on the bus to and from work, during my lunch break and at night.

Day 36 - Shamrock, altered photo

Shamrock just kicking back.
He's totally relaxed when his back legs are out like this. The photo was cropped, flipped, rotated, softened and brightened. Time for me to kick back for the night. Sweet dreams.

Day 35 - Princesses need days off too ;)

Daughter of the King Most Hight, Princess Lisa
I really want to do this blog, so I need new plan. Should I tweak my challenge? Would that mean I failed the challenge? I don't want to be a slave to a blog, but I don't want to just quit either. Hmmm - If anybody reads day 36, let me know what you think. If nobody comments, then maybe only I would know I took a Princess Day.  After all this Princess had to do dishes by hand after work because our dishwasher broke down! Made me appreciate how hard it's worked over the years. I could go on and on about this day, but I'll spare you dreary details. Okay, a new tomorrow, Saturday, my don't-have-to-get-out-of-bed-early day!

Day 34 - Fish Hat, knitting, Stage-2

The mouth of the fish hat is progressing nicely. I am now bringing my knitting with me to work, just in case I don't have the energy to do a thing after work. ;) I think I will add green to the next stage. Stage tuned.

Day 33 - Brandon's Quilt - Part 2

6 am Wed, 2/1/11, front porch.

The center is coming together. I rotated it on point, but I'm favoring the original layout.

6 am Wednesday, February 1, back door.
The pups couldn't make it out the back door this morning. Where is summer?
