Day 31 - Icicles, photo

The icicles hang from my screened sun porch.

Day 26-30 - Sabbatical

Hakuna matata
For disappearing acts, it's hard to beat what happens to the 8 hours supposedly left after 8 of sleep and 8 of work.                                                                              Doug Larson

I can only say, that starting a new job takes it all out of me and 2 hours out of my day for driving. I'll get back in the rhythm of things though and maybe even have some make-up days. Does that count with a 365 blog? Well, life's too short to stress over it.
Hakuna matata - what a wonderful phrase ;)

Day 25 - B&W Swirlies, altered photo

I recreated my purse digitally. The purse I call the wine bottle bag because you could fit one in it. It wasn't intentional, but after knitting it and felting 3 times, it is what it is. I'm a loose knitter, so in the future, I would use a couple of needle sizes smaller.

Day 24 - Fish head hat, knitting Stage-1

I'm "finished" with the first part of this project. It's the beginnings of a fish hat that will be a gift to a fisherman. This link shows where the pattern orignated from Fish Hat (link).

Day 23 - Floating shelves

Everyday holds a possibility of a Miracle.
It took me a year to hang these shelves around this phrase. I wasn't quite sure how they should be hung. On the upper shelf, next to the wooden bird, is a real bird's nest I think may have belonged to a sparrow. I can see the polyester lining from our outdoor table cloth in it, that I have seen them pick at, plant seeds and birch bark. The nest was sprayed with hairspray to help keep it whole. Little tea lights might be nice up there. The phrase is a vinyl wall applique that Patrick and I picked out together after he was home from the hospital in January of 2010, where he nearly lost his life.

I also moved this wreath to the left of the above display which involved taking Archimedes (owl) out and replacing it with a wooden humming bird. Archimedes found a much nicer perch above the picture of my great-great uncle Joe Osti and my grandpa Victor Cavosi in his 1st communion picture.

Day 22 - Wesley The Owl

No real project today except to find a landing place for Wesley who is named after the an owl in a book I loved, Wesley The Owl. His Christmas tree where he resided was put outside.

Enjoy the link.

Day 21 - Candlelight glitter

The candles replaced my dusty not-full-of-wine bottles. It looks so lovely lit up at night.

Day 20 - All That Glitters...

Flower accent
My sister's heart-shaped mirror needed a little tlc, so the border is covered in powder glitter, antique gold with a flower at the bottom. I put the glitter away and went to dust off the metal wine bottle holder on the wall. As I was dusting it, I thought it would look great with candles in it instead of not-really-full wine bottles. The candle I wanted to use needed not to be pink though. So out came the glitter, this time I used cinnamon and brown. Then the other 2 candle holders had to match, so they got a dose on the inside. Now I think I need to make a new runner for the credenza. I'm not sure where it's going to end.

Day 19 - Piano Top Arrangement

Finally, the nativity set and Christmas tree were put away! I'm hoping our living Christmas tree will make it through the winter and find a permanent home planted behind the garage. It took me about 20 minutes to put this grouping together. I think it works. What do you think?

Baby Patrick enjoying the sunshine.

Day 18 - Origami Rabbits

Tonight we watch Independent Lens where they explored the depths of Origami! It was absolutely fascinating to see mathematicians and artisans create with their own unique style. I have a link below if you're interested in seeing it. Just don't be too disappointed with my rabbits, I'm just a beginner.

Day 13 - Walking Group - advertisement

This is a photo I had taken of my daughter's running shoes and then turned into a wallet for her. I think it would make a great poster.

Unfortunately the software I use will not allow me to go back in and resize, Step into Health, but it's a good start!

Day 12 - Shamrock - altered photo

Shamrock in the garden, October 2010
I took a watercolor class years ago when my daughter was just 2 years old. It's a little cleaner with the digital method and any unintended brush strokes are simply corrected with the good old "undo" button. I might just fine tune this one and print it!

Day 11 - Soldier Dedication - photography

In honor of our soldiers, past, present and future.

If you love a soldier past or present, use this image to honor them.
This photo evolved from a simple image of grass with no intentions, but as I played with it, I was inspired.

Day 9 - Whooooo - fabric owl

A tiny detail, but my night owl needed to be sewn up so he can come out of the corner he was hiding in. I think I'll name him Starz.

There is a wisdom of the head, and a wisdom of the heart. ♥♥♥

Day 8 - You are...altered image

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

C. S. Lewis

This is a metal sculpture that can be found on Milwaukee's eastside, although you might have a hard time recognizing it from this photograph. It overlooks the lakefront in Shorewood's Atwater Park, entitled Spillover II by internationally known artist, Jaume Plensa. You can find this image from another angle in Day 7.

Day - 7 - Lost In Thought - altered image

In my mind's eye, I visualize how a particular... sight and feeling will appear on a print. If it excites me, there is a good chance it will make a good photograph. It is an intuitive sense, an ability that comes from a lot of practice.

Day 6 - Sitting Pretty Pin

The technique used is called needle punch. It measures about 3-1/2" x 3" and the flower's center is a tiny green swarovski bead. To give it some structure, I pressed two layers of bondable stabilizer to the back, and attached the pin. It could have been simply framed, but I thought it was so small, that a pin for my sweater would be more appropriate. Although some day, I can see it attached to a newly created purse.

The needle punch was completed, I would guess in 2005 and until now, stored in its original box in the hoop. It looks much prettier as a pin, don't you think?

Day 5 - Toggle Clutch

FB reply: The goose is cooked!
This clutch is very similar to the Golden Clutch (day 1), made from an upcycled felted sweater and repurposed designer fabric samples. The toggle was an antique store find.

Thank you Patrick for cooking the turkey, while I completed yet another project!

Day 4 - Nature's Winter Gift - Photograph

Nature's Gift on a January Day
Wow - are those flowers I see on on my succulent?! I went out to get a new tripod with a gift card I received for Christmas and had to play with it of course. So with what little natural light that was left of the day, I captured these fresh gems. This is so great; if I wasn't photographing today, I don't think I would have seen these flowers. Actually, I was going to photograph a flock of birds in a bush, (I was only a few feet away) but I had my camera slung across me and under my coat. All that fumbling to get my camera, caused the birds to fly away. So my little flower surprise when I got home made up for it. Happy winter.

Day 3 - Silver & Black Danglies

This was a fun, brand new project today. I actually spent more time playing with the photo in Picasa edit, then making them. Color correction needs work, but the earrings are done ;).

Day 2 - Heart's Desire Pillow

This little gem started back in spring of '04 (oh my) has patiently waited for her time to shine and now adorns our bed.

Day 1 - Golden Clutch

This clutch started over a year ago finally recieved its finishing touch - the strap. It wasn't as easy as I thought as I had to open up the seam to insert a loop for the D-ring. 1 UFO done, more to come!
